I am a tutor on English, Literacy and Language initial teacher education programmes as well as teaching on the PGCE for Young People and Adult Specialists. I continue to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and GCSE English at Newcastle College. I have also delivered subject enhancement training for English specialists on behalf of the Education and Training Foundation.
I have taught ESOL in the UK for 15 years and have previous experience of teaching English in France, Spain and Italy. I have also worked in secondary schools and in special educational needs. From 2011-2013, I worked in a teacher training college in Ethiopia with VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas). I joined the School of Education in June 2015. My key research interests are:
