Alan Hutchinson

Alan is an engineer from Wallsend who studied as a part time student at Newcastle College whilst employed at a local vitreous silica manufacturer. After which he achieved a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering. Alan has since worked in the printed circuit board and electronic contract manufacturing industries in a wide range of manufacturing and project engineering roles.  Alan joined Newcastle College as a lecturer in 2004 and moved to Newcastle Aviation Academy in 2009. Having lead programmes from first diploma to honours degree, Alan now specialises in teaching mathematics, physics, engineering materials and thermodynamics relating to aircraft maintenance engineering and is also the CAA Examination Manager for our Part 147 Licence provision. Alan gained Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in September 2018. He currently teaches on honours degree programmes in aircraft engineering and aircraft maintenance engineering.
