FHEA
Lecturer : UAL Foundation Diploma Art and Design;
Programme Lead MA Creative and Professional Practice.
My role at NCUC is divided between the UAL Foundation Diploma Art and Design and the new MA Creative and Professional Practice. Over the past ten years at Newcastle College, I have worked across a range of art and design disciplines, integrating both contextual theory and practical application. I have a BA (Hons) and an MRes Arts and am now doing a PT PhD.
I have an extensive creative industry background and a diverse range of interests in art and design underpinning my ability to work across creative disciplines. My research interests are focused around the creative process and how students understand this within an FE and HE environment. In particular, I am interested in the fostering and nurturing of the creative mindset and how the development of innovative ideas and concepts requires students to have confidence in risk taking. In addition to the cognitive processes involved in conceptualisation, I am also interested in collaborative communities of practice and how art and design students co-create shared understandings.
